Sensor selection via closed-loop control objectives
نویسندگان
چکیده
The ability to stabilize a system and achieve performance objectives using active feedback control is highly dependent on the location, quality, type, and number of control actuators and sensors. One role of a control engineer is to interact with the system designer to locate, size, and determine the quality of actuators and sensors required for effective control. This paper addresses one of these issues: location of sensors based on closedloop objectives. A systematic approach, based on H2 optimal control design techniques, is developed for sensor selection which achieves desired performance objectives and includes system constraints. This approach is applied to the selection of sensors for active vibration attenuation on the NASA Langley Mini-Mast experimental structure.

Output Selection with Fault Tolerance via Dynamic Controller Design ⋆
Abstract: Input-Output selection/placement for control systems has been an attractive research topic in particular under fault-free conditions. In this paper we present a methodology of output selection in a closed-loop framework with a view of fault tolerance capability. The principles with regards to the selection of sensors are reduced hardware redundancy, reduced costs and easier implementa...
متن کاملDynamic Load Carrying Capacity of Mobile-Base Flexible-Link Manipulators: Feedback Linearization Control Approach
This paper focuses on the effects of closed- control on the calculation of the dynamic load carrying capacity (DLCC) for mobile-base flexible-link manipulators. In previously proposed methods in the literature of DLCC calculation in flexible robots, an open-loop control scheme is assumed, whereas in reality, robot control is achieved via closed loop approaches which could render the calculated ...

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is known as the most effective technique in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, especially Parkinson disease (PD) and epilepsy. Relative healing and effective control of disease symptoms are the most significant reasons for the tangible tendency in use and development of this technology. Nevertheless, more cellular and molecular investigations are required ...
متن کاملA Disturbance Rejection Approach to Actuator and Sensor Placement
For various reasons as discussed for instance in [1], the selection of actuator and sensor positions is still ad hoc. This is especially true for exible structures where many candidate con gurations can exist. This study is an attempt to make the selection process more methodical. One approach to actuator and sensor placement is to optimize a closed loop performance metric directly by selecting...
